I came across this kid, Devon, who wandered in to the “secret” beach I was at in Kauai. Devon is somewhat down on his luck and was trying to catch fish to eat. Sensing a nice photo op I waited patiently for over an hour while he painstakingly unsnipped the net to get it just right. At the end of the day he cast the net in a location away from me, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching him search the tide for dinner. And it’s really these kinds of captures that make me love the craft of photography combined with my love of travel so much. Shows the unexpected moments of traveling that provide more insight to the destination than just pretty scenery. I also want to encourage you to reach out to people that randomly cross your path.  Knowing just a tiny bit about Devon’s life made the moment even more memorable.
